Our Sunday School was founded in 1937, the same year Mar Elia Chapel was elevated to a parish. Under the leadership of Vattakunnel Shri V. K. Mathew — later His Holiness Baselius Marthoma Mathews I, Catholicos — the school began its mission of Christian education. He served as the first Headmaster until 1946.
We form children and youth in the Word of God, cultivating Christian values, discipline, and a spirit of service through lessons, activities, and mentorship. Classes run from Baby Class through 12th grade, nurturing every age group in faith and spiritual growth. Sunday School meets every Sunday morning after Holy Qurbana in the Sunday School Hall, beginning with song, prayer, and pledge and ending with a closing prayer.
Our students regularly excel in annual exams and competitions at Diocesan, Zonal, and Malankara levels, reflecting the quality of teaching and the school’s disciplined learning environment.
Every April we hold the Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS), a joyful week of learning, worship, and fellowship that deepens children’s understanding of Christ, Scripture, and Orthodox tradition.
Guided by our Vicar, Assistant Vicar, and Headmistress, and supported by around 30 dedicated teachers, the Sunday School faithfully imparts biblical knowledge and Orthodox values to each generation.
