The Youva Jana Prasthanam (OCYM), the youth movement of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, continues to play a vital role in nurturing young people in faith, fellowship, and service. At the parish level, the movement inspires spiritual growth through prayer, Bible study, and active participation in worship. It also fosters learning and cultural expression by organizing seminars, discussions, and creative programs, while promoting Christian witness through charitable outreach, environmental care, and community support. Regular meetings are held every Sunday after the Holy Qurbana, and a monthly prayer meeting is conducted in the homes of members, strengthening bonds of fellowship and devotion.
In addition to its spiritual and educational initiatives, OCYM actively engages youth in cultural and social activities. Each year, the movement organizes inter-church events such as football tournaments, elocution competitions, and quiz competitions, providing platforms for talent, teamwork, and healthy interaction with the wider community. These activities not only encourage participation but also help young members develop leadership skills, confidence, and a spirit of unity.
OCYM also takes a leading role in the life of the parish, contributing significantly to major church events and services. From the Parish Day and Perunal to the Christmas Carol service and Passion Week observances, the youth movement ensures vibrant participation and dedicated service. Rooted in the vision of Worship, Study, and Service, OCYM continues to equip young people to grow as committed disciples of Christ and responsible leaders within both the Church and society.
